>What is it?
A collective of drawfags depicting historical tragedies as cute anime girls!
Think Black Death, The Great Famine, Great Fire of Rome, the Titanic, the Fire of Notre-Dame, etc.

>What is it??
Think of it as a doujin (independently published) artbook.
Similar projects have been done in the past.
Dictators of the world (pic related): https://imgur.com/gallery/zxUmu
Powerful American millionaires: https://imgur.com/a/qmPkV

>Can I join?
Any help is welcome. We need both artists and History enthusiasts.
There will be some quality control, but you don't have to be a pro. If you're capable of producing a fully-finished illustration in a moe style, that's all we need.

>When?
The digital artbook will be released on May 1st, 2020.

>Where?
Either join the Discord server: https://discord.gg/vKU5mtJ
Or get a tripcode (User##Password) and post in the threads.
I'll look into more options as we go.

>What if I get #cancelled on Twitter??
That is not impossible. You are free to submit your artwork with an alias.

>Will I work for free?
For the exposure. :^)
The project does not intend to make any profit. Do it if you like the concept.

Some events are chosen for their death tolls (the Holocaust), others by its historical relevance (9/11, which "only" killed 3000 people), or even by being fresh on people's minds (Notre-Dame Fire in 2019, no deaths).

The project is meant to be as apolitical as possible, so we'll go with whatever is the "academic consensus" on them.
The main goal is the appreciation of moe girls and History. Rather than to offend, the project aims at making people even if just a little bit more informed about and interested in past events of humanity.

FOR HISTORIANS:
When picking an event, consider death tolls, amount of destruction or cultural relevancy.

FOR ARTISTS:
This project isn't about glorifying killers of any kind.
As such, you should NOT depict perpetrators (e.g. Hitler for the Holocaust or Arab terrorists for 9/11). You should instead aim at evoking the elements of the disaster itself (e.g. a girl in a bathtub for a flood, a church-dressed girl with a fire aura for Notre-Dame).

You are expected to read about the subject, don't just go with what you think you know. Wikipedia articles are a good start. Blogs, documentaries and photographies would greatly enrich your pool of ideas, take your time.

Sounds cool, but there's much less variety than the other doujins. So much is flood, earthquakescand most things are from Europe and Asia. What I liked about the Dictators of the World was all the variety of countries.

You report the OP, you sage the thread, you hide the thread, you stop posting in this thread, you ignore every thread made by the nazi spammer. Then find the thread that is not made by the nazi spammer and post in that thread. Okay?

There are famines, diseases, a meteor shower, shipwrecks, radioactive incidents...
I think a lot of stuff can be squeezed out of it, especially if for each "repeated" disaster (like a flood) you dress the girl in the specific country's historical attire.

The Holodomor is not as controversial as it seems.
Everyone agrees millions died of starvation. Things only get murky when you discuss the actual amount and who was the culprit for it. A drawing can be vague enough that all versions would fit.

Or not, you're the artist, do your thing.

This one is from May
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinking_of_Hableány
>Hohol captain on a huge cruiser rams a smaller tourist boat under Margharet Bridge
>27 worst Koreans die, 1 missing
Fun fact about the bridge:
>When it was built, a poet write a suicude poem about the bridge, the ghosts emerge from the Danube and jump again, until the boy witnessing the events commits suicide himself
>German sappers accidentally demolished the bridge above themselves in WWII, during the rush hour
>100-600 dead.
Well, not so fun, but you get the point: people tend to die around that bridge.
